Overcomer #13 – Seeing God’s Greatness
During a war, as enemy forces advanced, Baker Company was cut off from the rest of their battalion. No word was heard from them for several hours though headquarters repeatedly tried to contact them.
Finally a faint signal was received. Straining to hear, the commander asked, “Baker Company, do you read me?”
“This is Baker Company,” came the reply.
“What is your situation?” asked the commander.
“The enemy is to the east of us. The enemy is to the north of us. The enemy is to the west of us. The enemy is to the south of us.”
Then after a brief pause, the sergeant from Baker Company said with determination, “The enemy is not going to get away from us now!”
Although surrounded and outnumbered, he could only see the greatness of his unit and a forthcoming victory.
As we see God’s greatness, we too can anticipate victory.
See the greatness of God’s plan (Ephesians 1:18). God called you. Saved you. Adopted you into his family. You are more than in God’s plan – you are God’s plan.
In Christ you are spiritually wealthy. All that Christ has is yours. God’s riches are enough for every situation. And he will give endless riches for eternity.
See the greatness of God’s power (Ephesians 1:19-20). God “incomparably great power” and his “mighty strength” were “exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.”
The resurrection and ascension and seating of Christ were greater than creation, greater than the exodus from Egypt, greater than Elijah calling fire down from heaven.
An agnostic teacher once said to a girl who believed in the Jesus, “There have been many who have claimed to be Christ. How can you be sure who told the truth? Which one do you believe?”
Without hesitation the girl replied, “I believe in the One who rose from the dead!”
See the greatness of God’s Son (Ephesians 1:21-23). Christ is “far above all” angels, holy and fallen, every power, every authority, every name in all history, every name that’s yet to be. None is superior to him. King Jesus is elevated above all.
Seeing God’s greatness, we stand in victory.
