QCAC All Church Prayer
Our All Church Prayer – all three congregations – is tonight, Friday, August 20, 2021, 7:30 p.m. on Zoom.
We want to pray kingdom prayers. Jesus taught us: “This, then, is how you should pray . . . your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10).
We follow a simple, engaging format for our All Church Prayer: A welcome in 3 languages. Three brief prayers, not translated, in English, Spanish, and Mandarin. A worship song. A Scripture Reading in 3 languages. Then Breakout Prayer Groups in 3 languages.
Our theme this month: Praying Locally & Globally.
• Locally – praying for our Good Neighbor ministry on Saturday.
• Globally – praying for Afghanistan and Haiti.
We can pray kingdom prayers in several ways. Here are five.
• Express genuine humility before God. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3).
• Cultivate receptivity to God through repentance and faith. “The time has come,” Jesus said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15).
• Forcefully lay hold of God. “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it” (Matthew 11:12, NIV 1984).
• Anticipate the Holy Spirit moving in people’s lives. “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17).
• Receive powerful answers to prayer. “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power” (1 Corinthians 4:20).
There are competing kingdoms in our world. We pray God’s kingdom come!
